Our Mt. Talinis Journey Begins

Our Mt. Talinis hiking adventure began on a Friday night. We met up at Bacolod City Plaza in front of the Cathedral, ready for the journey ahead. By 11:30 PM, we were on our way to Dumaguete City, filled with excitement and anticipation.

Day 1: The Ascent to Mt. Talinis

We arrived in Dumaguete early the next morning, stopping at McDonald's Provincial branch for a quick breakfast and to buy our packed lunches. By 8:40 AM, we were headed to the Bediao jump-off point in Brgy. Bediao, Dauin, Negros Oriental.

After a briefing and some preparations, we started our trek at 9:40 AM. The trail welcomed us with lush greenery and the sound of nature. By 1:40 PM, we reached Yagumyum Lake. It was a perfect spot to rest, take pictures, and have lunch. We also setup our tents before heading to the sulfur vent.

Mt. Talinis' Sulfur Vent and Back

Around 2:30 PM, we continued our trek towards the sulfur vent. The trail became more challenging, but the sight of the sulfur vent at 3:50 PM was worth it. The smell was strong, so we didn't stay long, heading back to Yagumyum Lake by 4:10 PM.

We reached the lake by 6:00 PM, took a bath, and enjoyed dinner and some social time before lights out at 10:00 PM.

Day 2: The Mt. Talinis Summit

We woke up at 4:00 AM, prepared for the final ascent, and had some coffee. By 6:15 AM, we started our trek towards the Nakolon summit. The trek was tough but reaching Lake Nailig by 7:40 AM felt like a victory. After a short rest and breakfast, we pushed on to the summit.

At 9:30 AM, we finally stood at the Nakolon summit. The view was breathtaking, a perfect reward for our efforts. We spent some time taking pictures and soaking in the scenery before starting our descent at 10:30 AM.
